Dwayne Johnson has taken a very sharp turn from an evil-vanquishing knight to the dragon of the castle himself. The notoriety he gained with his Super Heel transformation is still making the headlines despite his post-Royal Rumble appearance being weeks old. On top of it, he is unilaterally trying to make alterations to the rules of WrestleMania matches as well.
‘The Rock’ has always been an entertainment to watch. But, Dwayne Johnson may slowly be nearing the edge where his actions will lead to dire consequences. Former WWE Superstar Ryback speculated that Johnson could lead to Triple H‘s downfall in WWE, suggesting that The Rock could face a similar fate.
Will the Dwayne Johnson tyranny be put an end to with an iron fist?
Every move of Dwayne Johnson is under extra scrutiny these days because of the waves it is generating. However, this will also mean that just one misstep and one instance of crossing the line can prove dire for him. The same was discussed by renowned pro wrestling analyst Jim Cornette on his official podcast.
According to Cornette, “There will come a day, there will come a moment when The Rock has just gone too f*****g far with his power struggle. Whether he’s a wrestler or whether he’s a board of director member, or whatever, he’s in the ring in front of a sold-out building, and he has just stepped over a line, and Nick Khan’s f*****g face is going to pop up on that Titantron from Stamford, Connecticut, with the flag flying in the background.” He further stated that while Dwayne Johnson does have more power now, he isn’t at the top of the food chain.
Nick Khan, the CEO of WWE still has the iron fist over everything in WWE. Cornette clarified that The Rock joining the TKO Board of Directors implies there are other members with equal authority. While Dwayne Johnson attempts to be a one-man tyrant in WWE, the board members can oppose him with a majority vote.
This would mean that Johnson stands a chance of being stripped of his powers or his decisions being vetoed. Moreover, his arbitrariness can also make him a liability and he may be fired from WWE. While The Rock wields his authority wisely, he is smart enough to ensure nothing comes back to bite him.
This is how The Rock is ensuring a soft landing for himself
Dwayne Johnson immediately hijacked the pious 40-year-anniversary edition of WrestleMania at the first opportunity. While this already stands as a big violation, The Rock smoothened out the impact of things with his shrewdness. It is as clear as daylight that he is behind the current state of things. However, he riled up Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes into giving their consent for the tag team match and its rules as well.
